As Engineering Assurance Manage advising on the Main Stadium (£500m), Aquatics Centre (£300m), Velodrome (£200m), Primary Sub-station(£100m), IBC/MPC (£400m) Handball, Basketball, Waterpolo, Wind Turbine, highway infrastructure and Power Line Under-grounding Tunnels (PLUG) and Headhouses for EDFE and National Grid.
As Engineering Manager for the PLUG Tunnels Project responsible for the assessment of surcharge effects from Venues and highways infrastructure (bridges and embankments) involving tunnel integrity assessments and independent Category 3 checks by Arup and Atkins. Working with lawyers to develop asset protection agreements for EDFE and National Grid to establish working protocols to ensure the tunnels were not overloaded.
Provided engineering assurance to ensure projects follow best engineering practice in civil/structural design and construction in order to reduce risk, ensure structural integrity, promote cost effective solutions to safeguard the project schedule and hit KPIs.
Found significant capital savings on Aquatics and the park’s bridges to meet strict budget limitations imposed by government.
Advised on the specification of high integrity steelwork for separate plate rolling contracts together with normalization requirements for thicker plate; through-thickness welding requirements on complex joints together with associated NDE and fracture assessment of cable end-fittings for the Stadium and Velodrome including independent assessment and verification.
Peer review of the construction engineering for strand-jacking of the Aquatics roof, construction of compression ring and cable net for the Stadium and the bowl structure and cable net roof for the Velodrome.
